Product Description
1 pound grab bag of 100% real carbon fiber sheet scraps. Our grab bags contain cut-offs from our cosmetically perfect panels as well as sheets that did not meet our strict quality control standards for surface finish.
These pieces are great for experiments or for projects not a requiring perfect finish. Sizes include anything from 2 x 2 inch squares up to full 12x24 inch panels. We’ll send you a variety of pieces with thicknesses ranging from .25 mm to 3.1 mm depending on stock on-hand. For your reference, a sheet of 12x12 (.5mm) weighs approximately 0.13 pounds, while a sheet of 12x12 (1.3mm) weighs about 0.3 pounds.
Compare these deeply discounted prices to our regular carbon fiber sheet prices that, apples to apples, can cost up to $150 per pound!

Carbon Fiber Scraps are Totally Worth It

I would be lying if my entire day was not made when i opened that box of scraps. I ordered the scraps because I wanted to personally touch and feel and see different types to determine which i wanted. All of my scraps are magnificent; some have color and I got a myriad varieties to look through. I received large sheets, colored sheets, smaller squares and rectangles of different thicknesses, and several more miscellaneous scraps.
I read some of the other reviews. They complain about not receiving useful scraps. First, scraps are scraps because they cannot be fully used by Protech, so naturally they might not fit your needs exactly...BUT. I called Protech and they are very accommodating and helpful. I even received a hand-written note my box of scraps attatched to some small buisness-card shaped cutouts of carbon fiber (he said they might be useful). Point is, I couldn't be happier with the products or the people are Protech. I highly recommend them.

Just okay- not great but not horrible.

There were mostly super thin pieces of CF good for decorating something. I was hoping more structural CF would be in the lot. There was a little of it, but not much. One of the larger 1mm pieces had half of the sheet full of die-cut holes- no use at all to me full of holes.
Kurt – Very sorry to hear the scrap bag was not what you were looking for. Unfortunately the scraps we can send out are very dependent on what is available in the shop at the time and is not always of great variety. Please keep in mind, the scrap bags are always varied, and if you have a specific need you can always leave a comment in your order, or give us a call explaining what would work best for you, and we will do everything we can do help. Great Stuff

We were mostly interested in carbon sheets for structure on an experimental 15' airship. Protech called us to see what we would like from the scrap bin, including several sheets of carbon veneer. We used the veneer to create a set of carbon - Depron composite sheets, and the structural carbon for other applications on the airship. Saved us money, weight and time. So useful I'm tempted to order more just to have it on hand.
